The builders of the Delikkemer reverse siphon aqueduct demonstrated a profound knowledge of hydraulics when they constructed this substantial piece of quality 2000-year-old civil engineering, allowing water to flow uphill. Astonishing, and well worth a visit.

One of the finest of all the Lycian cities, possessing the world’s oldest lighthouse, a council chamber where the leaders of the earliest known example of democracy gathered, a superb amphitheatre and a great big willy on a rock, all combining to make Patara a must-see destination.
